Cayouche was Canadian singer-songwriter Réginald Charles Gagnon (born in Moncton, New Brunswick, on 7 January 1949; died 29 May 2024). Of Acadian descent, he is remembered as the creator of Acadian French country music. Gagnon's performance moniker, Cayouche, stems from his time in the USA, where, he said, people would tell him "You're not Acadian, you're Acayouche.". "Acayouche" later became "Cayouche." His first album, Un Vieux Hippy, released in 1994
